Finding room for a long range fuel tank under the Toyota Fortuner has been challenging to say the least, being a wagon with a fairly short wheel base, real estate underside of the vehicle is at a premium.
At Brown Davis we keep in mind the cost effectiveness of all our tank designs, one way to keep costs down is to make our long range fuel tanks not affect the location of the spare wheel , wheel carriers can be expensive.
We feel our 50 litre Gravity Feed Long Range Fuel Tank is the perfect solution. By dropping the spare wheel approx 50mm we have managed to find space for the equivalent of 2-1/2 jerry cans! This tank design fills through the vehicles standard filler and gravity feeds down into the vehicles standard fuel tank.
Your Fortuner will stay on full while the “higher” Brown Davis Gravity feed tank empties into the standard tank. Over this period the vehicles “distance till empty” will not remain accurate as the vehicle does not understand this tank is present. Once all fuel from the BD tank has fed down the vehicles standard tank will function as normal and the “distance till empty” will be accurate again. Do keep in mind that over long periods of driving, after using the top BD tank , the vehicle may need to be turned off to re-calibrate the “distance till empty”.
